WHAT DOES INVISALIGN® TECHNOLOGY INVOLVE?

Invisalign® is a hidden treatment that allows numerous orthodontic problems to be corrected. It consists of a series of aligners, changed every two weeks, which align your teeth progressively. In contrast to conventional braces, no brackets or wires are involved.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING INVISALIGN® TECHNOLOGY?

The device is customized by computer to match the exact form of your teeth.

  • Invisalign® aligners are made of transparent plastic instead of the metal used in conventional braces. This ensures superior comfort for the patient and reduces the risk of allergies.
  • Visits to the orthodontist are shorter and less frequent since there is no need to install braces or adjust the tension of metal wiring.
  • Thanks to SureSmile® technology, it is possible to see the final result in 3D prior to starting the treatment.
  • You can eat whatever you like as the device can be removed at mealtimes or when brushing your teeth.
  • The corrections being made to your dentition will be almost invisible.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT WITH INVISALIGN®?

A cast is made of your teeth to ascertain whether the Invisalign® system can be used to align them.

You can preview digital images of your treatment, as well as the final result, before agreeing to have the treatment.

Your aligners are then created thanks to a 3D digital process.

Each aligner will be worn for about two weeks, following the recommendation of Dr. Gagnon. Follow-up appointments will be made to change aligners, check on your progress and make sure you are not experiencing any major discomfort.

The length of treatment may vary considerably from one person to the next. It may last from several months to two or three years. It will depend on the complexity of your case.

Appointments take place every eight to ten weeks on average.

WHAT ORTHODONTIC PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED USING INVISALIGN® TECHNOLOGY?

Malocclusion: When the jaws do not provide enough space for the teeth to be correctly positioned.

Spaces between teeth: When the jaws provide too much space.

Cross bite: The upper and lower jaws are misaligned.

Overbite: The upper teeth cover the lower teeth.

Underbite: The lower teeth are in front of the upper teeth.

Although it is preferable to consult an orthodontist in order to have a professional opinion, you can always do a smile assessment on the Invisalign® website to find out more about your dental alignment problem.

If necessary, it may be advisable to use conventional braces for more serious problems. At our clinic, we offer various choices and alternatives that cover most possibilities. Do not hesitate to contact us by phone or use our online form for more information. We will be pleased to provide you with more in-depth information about possible treatment.

CAN INVISALIGN® TECHNOLOGY BE USED BY TEENAGERS?

We are well aware that teenagers want to benefit from orthodontic treatment that won’t cause physical or psychological shyness. That’s why Invisalign® provides an aesthetic means that will result in a beautiful smile without the constraints of a so-called “classic” device. Invisalign® technology is therefore adapted to both adolescents and adults.

For youngsters who are still teething, Invisalign Teen® technology may be appropriate. It has been designed to respect their lifestyle while adding several functionalities.

Compliance indicators fade from blue to transparent in each aligner, showing the amount of time it has been worn.

Various functions have been designed to compensate for canines, premolars and second molars still coming through.
